Part of the Walt Disney Company's Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED) segment, Disney Music Group (DMG) is the music hub for TWDC, encompassing all aspects of music commercialization and marketing: recorded music (Walt Disney Records and Hollywood Records), Disney Music Publishing, and Disney Concerts. DMG distributes music both physically and digitally, and also licenses music throughout the world in various forms of media including television, print, gaming, and consumer products.
The DMG Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the digital distribution and physical production and distribution teams.
Physical production team management will include overseeing the physical production process for all catalog and new release products to include management of 3rd party relationships and communicating to our executive team physical manufacturing landscape changes.
Digital production team management will oversee the coordination of the final digital audio & video product delivery to our distributor to include changes/updates made to product through life cycle.
Responsibilities:
• Provide management and guidance to digital audio/video distribution team and physical production and distribution team. Guidance for the physical production and distribution team to include acquiring in depth knowledge and understanding of physical production and distribution planning and catalog inventory management.
• Guidance for the digital distribution team to include deadline management and exotic delivery planning with our distribution partner.
• Develop and maintain relationships with third party vendors/manufacturers & distribution partner, to include continuous process improvement and release volume management
• Work with internal and external IT teams to improve system processes, to include working with our distribution partner to design better system integration
• Create and maintain product set up information in various information systems, both domestic and international, working closely with internal departments to ensure information is timely and uniform to DMG and partner standards
• Ad hoc high level complex product research projects. To include a deep understanding of our repertoire data base and distribution partner systems in order to provide in depth and detailed information as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum of 4 years of experience leading professional staff, preferably in a record label, digital service provider and/or in the entertainment field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in product production, supply chain management and/or distribution
• Ability to inspire and develop a team
• Ability to think strategically and develop new tools and processes to address changing needs of the physical and digital production and distribution landscape
• Strong understanding of how to work with IT teams to identify and address system needs and improvements both with internal and external partners
• Able to communicate with all levels of management and present ideas in a clear and concise manner
• Robust project management skills with proficiency in evaluating needs and taking on projects as needed
• Strong technical aptitude essential; knowledge of advanced Excel and database structures
• Efficient and excellent time-management skills; this is a FAST-PACED, continually evolving environment
• Attention to detail, problem solving and accuracy is critical
• Responsive, inquisitive, thorough and patient
• Highly intelligent and adaptable; quick learner
• Good interpersonal skills; very customer and service focused
Preferred Qualifications:
• SQL knowledge a plus
• General knowledge of asset database management a plus
Required Education
• Bachelor's degree preferred
