Social Media Director - Reese's Book Club
Location: Los Angeles, California, United States (Hybrid)
Reese’s Book Club is seeking a Social Media Director to develop and execute the strategy for Reese’s Book Club (RBC). This hands-on role requires a self-starter who is well-versed across all social media platforms and has agency or in-house experience overseeing social media strategy at a brand, agency, book group, or publisher.
The Social Media Director will lead the strategic planning, development, ongoing execution, and management of social media activities for RBC. This role is perfect for a strategic thinker who has experience authoring strategy, conceptualizing, editing, managing, and scheduling creative and social assets. You should be skilled at working with book talent and authors and using qualitative and quantitative insights to guide your work. You should be able to keep social content fresh, exciting, and creative, and you’ll be responsible for integrating clients or brands into editorial and social content in an organic way where storytelling is central. This role also involves leadership and delegation to the team.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement social media strategies and campaigns to support RBC's objectives.
• Oversee social media content creation, planning, and execution, ensuring alignment with broader business, editorial, and audience goals.
• Ensure content aligns with RBC's brand voice and obtain necessary approvals.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to assist with larger events and company-wide initiatives.
• Define and optimize performance goals for social media efforts, leveraging insights to adapt strategies.
• Analyze campaign results and present strategies, analysis, and key learnings to leadership and stakeholders.
• Stay informed about emerging social media platforms and tactics and seek opportunities to innovate.
• Identify trends, relevant news, and opportunities to increase RBC's share of voice in the social space.
• Build and execute social plans for RBC initiatives, such as monthly book content and author promotion.
• Lead brainstorms and activations, collaborate across departments, and track projects in conjunction with project managers.
• Oversee monthly book giveaways and collaborate with the Hello Sunshine team on social initiatives.
• Manage photo/video shoots with authors and book talent.
• Collaborate with publishers on book announcements.
• Lead the team, mentor direct reports, and communicate openly, fostering growth and alignment with the larger business vision.
Requirements:
• Proven experience managing social media for a brand, media company, agency, or publishing entity.
• Significant experience directing social campaigns for live content, events, commerce, book publishing, podcasts, and launches.
• Proven ability to grow and maintain social audiences across multiple platforms.
• Creative thinker with attention to detail, able to meet tight deadlines.
• Strong understanding of social platforms, trends, and best practices.
• Proficiency with visual design and content curation.
• Excellent writing and editorial skills.
• Passion for books and storytelling, especially advancing female narratives.
• Experience with marketing tools like Google Business, Canva, CapCut, Premiere, Sprinklr, Sprout Social, and Later.
• Experience leading and managing a team.
Compensation and Benefits:
Base salary: $135,000 - $150,000
