This is a Full Time Job
Hearst Television has an opening for a Video Editor on the digital news video team, which produces multiple series distributed on our streaming app and digital channels. Through a combination of new, original field produced footage and our vast archives, this team brings the reporting of HTV's 27 local news stations to national audiences. The series range from heart-warming and inspiring, to historical documentaries, game shows and award-winning true crime.
You will ooze creativity and have the wherewithal to implement ideas and bring to life a producer's vision, while adapting to feedback positively. You will have the capability to edit unscripted and documentary-style episodes for existing franchises and develop new concepts. We are looking for someone who is passionate about storytelling with experience in long-form documentary production.
This role is based in a Hearst Television station market, which may include Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Louisiana, Iowa, Maryland, Wisconsin or Ohio.
Responsibilities
• Edit projects for streaming, linear and digital
• Collaborate with producers and writers
• Follow series guidelines and show bibles
• Apply notes and feedback from multiple partners
• Conform edits and break out plates for VFX, color, and audio departments
• Over-cut VFX, graded finals, and audio mixes to assure conformity with locked edits
• Use Adobe Premiere/Media Encoder to encode, transcode, and rewrap media assets
• Maintain and manage prescribed deadlines
Requirements
• 4 years of experience as an editor (able to show example links and reel)
• Tell a compelling story from a unique point of view
• Experience in documentary-style storytelling (interest or experience in true crime)
• Experience editing with Adobe Premiere Pro
• Experience working with a post-production team of 3 people
• Understanding of media management and multistage post-production workflow
• Take constructive feedback well and provide creative solutions
• Exhibit a tenacious, upstart mentality
• Excellent written, verbal and time management skills
• Color grading, motion graphics and audio mix experience
• Related military experience will be considered
