Part Time Job
WTAE-TV, the Hearst-owned ABC affiliate in Pittsburgh, PA has an opening for a part time Stagehand. We are looking for an energetic team player who understands the flexible schedule that the broadcast industry requires to join our studio production crew. This person will be responsible for operating the teleprompter as related to live broadcasts and post-production. Must have good technical skills, and good communication skills. Responsibilities include set-up and execution of studio productions, assisting the news department, and other duties as assigned.
Job Responsibilities:
• Operation of teleprompters, sets and other production equipment.
• Set-up and execution of studio productions.
• Maintain professional appearance of studio/sets.
• Assist the directors as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements:
• Working knowledge of television newscast equipment and software required.
• Knowledge of set construction a plus.
• Related military experience will be considered.
Qualifications Requirements:
• Must have a good attitude, be willing to learn, and be a team player.
• Must be able to problem solve quickly and work well under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Attention to detail a must.
• In-person work required.
• Candidates must be willing to work varied shifts-overnight, holidays and weekends included.
• Must be a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees union Local #3 or be willing to join the union by tendering initiation fee and monthly dues as required by I.A.T.S.E, Local #3 to maintain employment.
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Communications preferred. Current local students encouraged to apply.
• Equivalent military training from Defense Information School (DINFOS) and associated experience will be considered.
