This position is responsible for supporting a group of Hearst Television's operating business units with preparation, analysis, and reporting of financial results in a centralized accounting environment. This position also ensures financial records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. The position is located at the Hearst Television business office in Charlotte, N
C.
Job Responsibilities:
• Prepares, maintains control, and is responsible for subsidiary accounting records involving a variety of transactions and accounts in high visibility corporate departments
• Prepares and posts GL transactions for responsible areas and accounts after thorough understanding of topic and entries needed
• Analyzes accounting data utilizing a cloud-based Oracle ERP system to ensure accuracy of information & calculations. Prepare correcting entries as needed
• Maintain month end close checklist and timeline to meet multiple accounting deadlines
• Collaborate with business unit and regional finance teams to ensure accuracy & timeliness of GL transactions
• Prepare general ledger account analysis and reconciliations, ad hoc reports, and other supporting schedules utilizing Oracle ERP and distributing to key stakeholders
• Communicate key accounting results and data to business units with clear understanding of transactions
• Be a champion of innovation and change within the local team and larger finance organization
• Utilize multiple accounting & reporting tools simultaneously to achieve goals
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
Qualification
Requirements:
• 3 years of accounting/finance experience including month end close
• CPA a plus, but not required
• Ability to collaborate with others to gather necessary analytical data and present it in a comprehensive and understandable way
• Excellent analytical skills, strong attention to detail
• Ability to work with accuracy and meet deadlines
• Highly organized, strong ability to multi-task and prioritize
• Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills to communicate with other directors and executives in multiple locations
• Ability to act and operate independently, with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish directives
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (macros, pivot tables, lookup functions)
• Experience with Oracle accounting software applications and Oracle Cloud Planning to query data and use SmartView for analytics or refresh data
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
