Full Time Job
KOAT-TV has an opening for an experienced broadcast Operations and Maintenance Technician. The Operations and Maintenance Technician maintains the technical integrity of the station's on-air signals and its equipment. The Operations Technician will be responsible to communicate effectively with all departments, as this is integral for a smooth outcome of newscasts. This position supports all station efforts in-house and on remote location.
Job Responsibilities:
• Maintain and understand lighting grid and control board with knowledge to maintain proper programming. Ability to climb ladders to change light bulbs and adjust fixtures as needed.
• Work as needed in control room in technical positions (including camera control, audio and TD)
• Assist in the maintenance of all equipment used in production and news including studio cameras, switching and routing systems, studio lighting systems, weather systems, audio consoles, and microphones
• Maintains news-gathering equipment including ENG cameras, field gear, ENG, DSNG, and SNG trucks, editing systems, and support devices.
• Maintains support equipment including master and sub switchers, monitors, videotape machines, XDCAM decks, computer systems, microphones, and intercoms.
• Conducts troubleshooting, installation, research, documentation, and cabling tasks.
• Assist in the upkeep and maintenance of the station facility including lights, electrical, and inhouse cable.
• Other duties as assigned by the TV Operations Manager and Chief Engineer
Experience
Requirements:
• Should have 2 years of experience working as an operations technician at a commercial television station with extensive experience in operating a wide variety of broadcast equipment
• Related military experience will be considered
Qualification
Requirements:
• Must have excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to repair equipment down to the circuit level.
• Must have the ability to work effectively with other team members and independently.
• Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must have the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
• Must have a solid background in operation of broadcast television systems and equipment
Education:
• Military training and experience will be considered, Military Broadcast Television Equipment Maintenance (BTVEM) course from Defense
Information
School (DINFOS) a plus.
• Associates degree in electronic engineering or a minimum of two-years of an accredited technical electronics school equivalent.
