This is a Full Time Job
WTAE-TV, the Hearst Television-owned ABC affiliate in Pittsburgh, PA has an immediate full-time opening for a weekend meteorologist. We are looking for a highly skilled meteorologist who also exhibits high energy. The successful candidate will be a skilled communicator who has a passion for weather and who can deliver a relatable weather forecast on TV and digital platforms. Our next meteorologist will be able to stay cool under pressure and convey life-saving information in the appropriate tone.
Job Responsibilities:
• Weather data analysis and forecasting
• Working knowledge of radar information (able to interpret and analyze data)
• Producing a wide variety of weather graphics for self and other meteorologists' use
• Reporting weather on-air
• Reporting weather on all digital platforms, including social media
• Reporting in the field as assigned
• Ability to ad lib weather information during breaking news, long-form weather cut-ins
• Taking cues and direction during on-air weather reporting
• Ability to stay up to date with the latest technology and forecasting analysis techniques
• Working as part of a team
• Attending daily editorial meetings
• Keeping news personnel up to date on current weather conditions
• Working under pressure in a time-sensitive environment
• Attending community appearances
Experience
Requirements:
• Three Years Television News Experience Preferred
• Working Knowledge of Computer Weather Graphics
• Ability to put together accurate, informative, creative and easy-to-understand weathercasts for TV and digital
Qualifications
Requirements:
• Proficient in using WSI graphics and technology
• Proficient in using Baron graphics and technology
• Must be able to work all shifts – holidays and weekends included
Education:
• AMS seal preferred
• Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Meteorology or related field
• Military training and experience will be considered
