Description:
Hearst Television is seeking an experienced, aggres sive reporter to join its Washington Bureau. The Washington Bureau is responsible for covering breaking news, politics, health, consumer, and special projects for Hearst stations, as well as major event coverage such as political conventions, election coverage and breaking news events.
This person will join a DC team that provides 70 lives and as-lives for Hearst stations daily. Bureau reporters regularly conduct newsmaker interviews with national figures, as well as regular interviews with key Congressional members representing communities served by Hearst Television stations.
Job Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include enterprising story ideas, researching investigative special reports, multiple live shots and as-lives per day, developing and maintaining news sources and newsmaker contacts. Will also work closely with various stations to customize content and provide multi-platform content.
Qualification Requirements:
Qualified candidates should excel in live coverage, be strong writers, cool under deadlines, and work well in a team dynamic. Versatility a must as reporters cover a wide range of topics and subjects, must be up-to-date on current events and able to react and respond to developing situations and continuing coverage. Ability to follow and dissect complex issues, identify key components and craft into a well-told story easy for viewer to understand. Must know how to develop and maintain news sources and information.
Experience Requirements:
Candidates should have at least 5 years on-air experience.
