In this role you will train, coach and work with a team of news web producers on a daily basis to ensure a steady stream of interesting content is packaged in an interactive way that generates interest and buzz. You will also ensure that we are first to market with significant breaking news and exclusive content that creates an inclusive digital-first culture.
In addition you will:
• Evaluate website traffic trends in effort to make decisions on both daily content and longer term content development that will grow in DMA traffic
• Lead team members responsible for planning and implementing special coverage projects (severe weather, breaking news, enterprise digital content databases & projects)
• Monitor major news websites, local and state websites, blogs and social media for breaking news and trending topics
• Promote news content on social media
We require 5 years experience gathering or producing news and information with 3 years experience working primarily on the Web. Experience building online databases (investigative, elections, weather, etc.); knowledge of SEO best practices and AP Style. Must be organized & a technical problem solver with the ability to make quick decisions. Excellent interpersonal skills and strong collaboration skills; self motivated, along with a competitive spirit. Proficiency in MS Office. HTML, CSS and Photoshop experience a plus. Ability to work a flexible schedule (nights, weekends). Bachelors Degree preferred.
