Primary Responsibility will be to
To produce a mix of breaking news, news features and profiles, and enterprise stories
Competencies/Critical Skills needed for this role:
• An analytical thinker
• An aggressive newsgatherer, multi-tasker, storyteller
• A skilled promoter of his/her/their stories and the business desk's work at large on social media
What are the measures of success for this position?
• Productivity (3-5 published stories per week)
• A demonstrated ability to break technology news ahead of competitors
• Routinely meeting tight deadlines; strong digital metrics
Experience, Qualifications, Technical Requirements, Education:
• Bachelor's degree preferred; 10 years of reporting experience will be considered in lieu of degree
• 3 years minimum of beat-reporting experience is required
• Strong writing (writes clearly and engagingly, follows AP style) is required
• Strong reporting skills (able to break news and cultivate and maintain a network of sources) is required
• Willingness to produce an early version of stories for ExpressNewds.com is required
• Ability to meet tight deadlines is required
