Position Responsibilities:
• Managing Chron's social media accounts, including Facebook and Twitter
• Collaborating with the editorial team to create engaging social media content highlighting Chron's editorial content, in addition to original social content
• Launching and managing Chron's Instagram account
• Maintaining a social content calendar
• Analyzing social media engagement and develop insights based on social media content and/or channel performance
• Collaborating with the Houston Chronicle and Hearst marketing teams to edit and schedule marketing, sponsored content and affiliate content posts
• Serves as the internal voice of social media to ensure that social strategy is front-of-mind for the editorial team
Work Experience:
• Developing and maintaining social calendars
• Creating graphics, memes, GIFs, etc. for social and/or collaborating with a graphic designer/photo editor as needed for social images
• Up-to-date on social media channels best practices, algorithms and trends
• Social listening and developing real-time content
• Comfortable with social media analytics, as well as developing insights based on social media content and/or channel performance
• Familiarity with Chron's Houston-area and greater Texas audience
• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, marketing or English preferred
• 2-3 years' experience managing social media for a brand or publication
• Using Chartbeat, Google Analytics, Looker, or other analytics tools
• Using Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva or other design tools for social images
• Using SocialFlow, Hubspot, Sprout Social, or other social media scheduling platforms
• Copywriting & copy-editing skills
• Proven track record of increased social media community building & engagement
