Human Resources Program Manager

The Newspaper Division of Hearst is looking for an HR Program Manager to provide programmatic leadership, design and execution for the division. Reporting to the SVP of HR for Hearst Newspapers, the HR Program Manager will partner with our newspaper HR Leads in the areas of diversity & inclusion, career development, mentoring programs, employee engagement and recruitment and retention initiatives. This is a both a strategic and hands-on role allowing you to think big but also not be afraid to ''roll up your sleeves.'' There is room to shape the portfolio of the HR Program Manager according to the strengths of the candidate and the evolving needs of the business. Some possible focus areas are included below.
What will you do?
• Identifying and implementing best practices and continuous process improvement in the delivery of diversity and inclusion initiatives that include:
• Supporting our diversity and affinity groups
• Local community outreach programs that focus on minority and women supported organizations
• Cultural engagement that includes recognition & celebration of diverse holidays
• Develop and manage our D&I, retention and promotion metrics and recruitment scorecards
• Development and facilitation of a Mentoring Program
• Development and facilitation of our Succession Program
• Development and monitoring effective sourcing and recruitment strategies that attract top talent, including diversity initiatives and partnerships with community-based organizations;
• Development of formal internship programs;
• Develop and delivery of speakers, webinars, etc. to foster our culture and engagement initiatives
• Managing and deriving insights from our employee engagement, new hire, exit and other surveys throughout the division, including developing appropriate action plans to attract and retain top talent and make Hearst Newspapers an employer of choice.
What will it take to be successful?
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Master's degree and/or PHR/SPHR/SHRM Certification a plus.
• In-depth knowledge and work experience as an HR Generalist, Program Manager, D&I and/or training with 5 years of experience.
• A demonstrated track record of building collaborative relationships and lasting business partnerships across all levels of the organization. Builds effective networks and alliances.
• Ability to align HR activities to the business by prioritizing activities and balancing short-term decisions to achieve strategic long-term goals.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, driving action-oriented results.
• Retains the ability to translate strategic opportunities into specific action plans.
• Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills; an ability to objectively analyze current practices, identify process improvement opportunities and successfully influence and implement appropriate changes.
• The ability to serve multiple customers and manage a wide variety of tasks.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• The ideal candidate will have drive, resilience, genuineness, openness & self-awareness.
