About the Role: As a High School Sports Reporter, you will dive into the world of high school athletics, covering sports like football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, and more. You'll be on the frontlines, telling the stories that matter-from covering the games to writing in-depth profiles of athletes and coaches. Your work will be showcased across our online, print, and social media channels.

Key Responsibilities:
• Game Coverage: Report live from high school sports games across the San Antonio region.
• Profile Writing: Capture the stories behind the players and coaches, highlighting their journeys and achievements.
• Feature Stories & Lists: Write engaging features on trending sports topics, compile ''best of'' lists, and contribute to all-star team selections.
• Social Media: Run and contribute to our social media platforms, including Instagram, X (Twitter), and YouTube, helping grow our HS sports community.
• Event Participation: Play an active role in events like the Express-News High School Sports Banquet and other sports-related activities.

What We're Looking For:
• Bachelor's Degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
• Experience Writing for a Daily News Organization: Proven experience in a fast-paced news environment is essential.
• High School Sports Coverage: Previous experience covering high school sports.
• Digital Savvy: Familiarity with social media platforms, audience engagement, and digital content metrics.
• Excellent Reporting & Writing Skills: Strong ability to report accurately, write clearly, and meet tight deadlines.
• Creative Eye for Features: You can spot the stories that captivate a broad audience, from athlete profiles to sports-related human-interest pieces.
