As an Editor for GreenState you can expect the following:
The ideal role for a writer/editor who wants to build a brand and run it, all while working with the Hearst markets to align with their strategies. Relaunching a cannabis destination site geared toward new users, you'll be at the forefront of a green wave of legalization and education and consumers who seek out expert guidance on everything from etiquette to the basics.
The ideal candidate is a fast writer, keeping up on trends and eager to continue to publisher her or his own pieces, while editing the work of contributors. You should have impeccable copy-editing skills, strong attention to nuances, a healthy familiarity with affiliate links, huge SEO chops, and an understanding of how to work with the spectrum of sponsored content, branded content, affiliate commerce content, and pure editorial content, and a desire to make all forms excellent and transparent to the reader.
As editor, you'll have full responsibility for the content going on the site, including coordination with all freelancers, contributors, and journalistic review of new initiatives. You'll also oversee podcasting, video production, and all social channels for the brand.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate all editorial products across GreenState brand for quality, journalistic integrity, audience growth
• Coordinate freelancers, partners, vendors, and work with Hearst content teams
• Daily writing of short, trending content
• Weekly writing of longer form content
• Copy editing of all contributors to GreenState
• Oversight of email newsletters, social media channels, and multimedia efforts
• Oversight of site operations, all SEO efforts, and liaison with development team for all operational needs
• Coordinate performance content teams, SEO teams, and collaborate with sales
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree or in-depth experience in communications, journalism or other related field or any combination of experience.
• 2 years writing/editing experience at a large digital publication
• Experience with visual storytelling across multiple platforms, including the web, social platforms, and third-party news apps.
• Must have strong prioritization, organization, and communication skills.
• Understanding of the performance content, native content, and experience working with sales and marketing
