Associate Brand Marketing Manager - King Features
We are looking for an engaged, creative and conscientious marketing professional to join our small, yet dynamic team at King Features. This is full-time role within the brand marketing team starting April 2021. The team is working remotely for the time being, but when it is deemed safe for us to return, we will go back to enjoying our views of Manhattan from the 41st floor of the Hearst Tower near Central Park.
King Features has a portfolio of 60 classic characters, made accessible to fans through various forms of entertainment from comic strips to TV series to video games. This role will assist the Brand Marketing Director in all activities that protect and perpetuate King Features' extensive library of brands, particular those with consumer product programs attached such as Popeye, Olive Oyl, Cuphead, Flash Gordon, The Phantom, Moomin, Pucca and more. The Associate Brand Marketing Manager will become a resident go-to expert on our KFS properties', embodying the brand perspective and voice of each unique IP while serving as a reviewer and approver of new creative assets and branded content across platforms globally and play a key part in the development of branding guidelines, sales tools, marketing materials, promotions and tradeshow exhibits.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Compile all departmental brand activities (design, licensing, digital marketing, social media, syndication and entertainment) into concise brand and sales decks that are updated monthly; create bespoke pitch decks as needed
• Aid Director in the planning and execution of integrated marketing and PR plans
• Assist Director with management of the overarching franchise calendar to ensure alignment across lines of business and international markets
• Work closely with Marketing Director and outside agencies to develop the necessary creative and marketing tools needed to support KFS brands and business
• Generate work for hire agreements for all new creative and marketing partners in coordination with Legal
• Support Marketing Director in the preparation and execution of KFS tradeshow exhibits
• Develop and maintain Digital Press Kits for our brands to support PR requests and make key art, brand messaging and guidelines accessible to internal teams
• Create and coordinate delivery of quarterly newsletter with brand highlights to licensees, international agents and partners
• Problem solve internal and external business issues (with supervisor support, as needed) and follow through to resolution
• Track departmental costs against budget; Gather, code and submit all invoices to AP ensuring on-time vendor payments; Setup new vendors
• Manage outside parties' permissions requests to use our brands in their content, promotions and advertising; execute agreements with Legal and facilitate payment
• Conduct consumer and competitive research projects as needed, providing strategic recommendations that support brand development
• Collaborate with international agents to address global needs and market feedback; support global information needs.
• Communicate details around upcoming product launches and marketing campaigns to social media team regularly to ensure promotional support for global partners via our brand platforms/channels
• Monitor branding on company and property websites and social networks; coordinate updates with social media team
• Provide general administrative support for the marketing/licensing team, including but not limited to, maintenance of logs, business contact lists, travel arrangements, meeting scheduling, and other general office duties
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• College degree required with 2-3 years of relevant work experience
• Exceptional project management and organizational skills
• Appreciation for the importance of process, efficient workflow and effective communication
• Detail-oriented team player with highly productive work ethic and a proactive attitude
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Creative thinker who is quick on their feet and enjoys being up to date on world cultures as well as market and industry trends
• Familiarity with brand marketing, licensing, public relations and creative services
• Previous experience with character brand building and licensing is ideal
• High proficiency in programs that facilitate organization including Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, Google Docs, Dropbox, and Teams; Mac experience preferred
• Intermediate experience with creative development programs such as Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Premier, WordPress, etc. is a plus
• Studio, production company, creative or entertainment marketing experience is helpful
