Hearst's Enthusiast Group seeks an energetic, creative editor to help elevate the velocity and quality of the product reviews and gear-centric content of Bicycling, Runner's World, and Popular Mechanics. The ideal candidate is precise with words, passionate about gear, and able to produce exceptional work across print and digital mediums. This role will collaborate with our senior editors, art team, and highly capable test editors to assign, edit, and publish high-quality gear content, including reviews, news, roundups, features, guides, and commerce-driven pieces. This position will track and manage copy flow, establish deadlines, and positively make sure they're met. Will be responsible for editing multiple stories daily, using analytics, search-optimization best practices, and careful editing to deliver content that drives traffic, generates affiliate revenue, and connects with our audience. The ideal candidate cares deeply for the gear we cover; the test manager will review and test products herself or himself. The role is based in the Enthusiast Group headquarters in the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania. NOTE: For consideration, resumes must be received in .pdf format with a cover letter, salary requirements, and a link to a portfolio of work.
Responsibilities:
• Edit five to 10 gear-centric stories each day. Assign stories to staff and freelancers as needed.
• Set and manage deadlines and daily copy flow.
• Use experience with cycling, home, outdoor, tech, and running gear to test products and write researched reviews and roundups.
• Use search analytics, commerce reports, and other data insights to deliver high-quality reviews that succeed across platforms and against established metrics.
• Assign (and sometimes write) reviews and gear packages for print issues.
• Make sure every piece of content is accurate, credible, engaging, and on-brand.
• Bring passion, enthusiasm, and a reverence for deadlines to work every day.
Qualifications:
• 3 years of professional experience editing and writing gear-focused content; supervisory or managerial experience preferred.
• Digital content production experience necessary; competency using Google Analytics, Google Trends, and affiliate-network reporting tools a major plus.
• Budget- and metric-driven personality.
• Must be able to work flexible hours as needed.
