As a Senior Product Manager for Personalization and User Experiences at Hearst Magazines, you will spearhead the product roadmap for creating deeply engaging and tailored experiences for every reader across our diverse portfolio of iconic digital brands. You will be responsible for developing innovative personalization features, leveraging content insights, user behavior, and modern machine learning techniques (including potential applications of LLMs) to build compelling user journeys that connect millions of readers with the content they love, every day.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Senior Product Manager, Personalization and User Experiences, you will:
• Envision and define personalized content experiences that are intuitively tailored to each reader's interests, intent, and context, acting as a trusted guide to discovering valuable and relevant content across Hearst Magazines' digital platforms.
• Collaborate closely with a cross-functional team of engineers, data scientists, designers, editorial stakeholders, and audience development managers to define and execute a product roadmap that enhances content discovery, deepens reader engagement, and supports key business objectives.
• Drive the product strategy and roadmap for our personalization capabilities, including content recommendation systems, dynamic content surfacing, and user segmentation, continuously seeking innovative ways to improve the reader experience and drive content consumption.
• Proactively identify and address potential challenges and bottlenecks, manage escalations, make informed trade-offs, and skillfully balance reader needs and editorial goals with business priorities and technical feasibility.
• Synthesize insights from a wide range of inputs – including reader feedback, analytics, A/B testing, market trends, and stakeholder requirements – to develop clear, cohesive product strategies, feature designs, and functional specifications.
• Clearly and consistently communicate product vision, goals, requirements, roadmaps, and timelines to internal cross-functional teams, including remote and distributed team members, ensuring alignment and shared understanding.
• Demonstrate sound judgment, a strong understanding of the digital media landscape, effective negotiation skills, the ability to influence without direct authority, and leadership qualities essential for success in this role.
• Champion a data-driven and user-centric approach to product development, constantly seeking opportunities to test, learn, and iterate to improve personalization effectiveness and overall user satisfaction.
QUALIFICATIONS
• 8 years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience
• Bachelor's degree
• Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
• Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
• Experience with end to end product delivery
• Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
• Experience in technical product management
• Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement
• Master's degree or MBA
• Experience in the media, publishing, or content-driven digital products space.
• Proven ability to work with data scientists and understand machine learning concepts to drive personalization.
• Familiarity with A/B testing methodologies and data analytics tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa. This is HYBRID in NYC 3 days/week.
The base salary for this role is between $149k - $170k. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
