The Media Platforms at Hearst Magazines is seeking an exceptional Sales Engineer who enjoys working with clients, creating technical strategies and solutions, and playing an integral role in solving customer business and technical challenges. This role will have the opportunity to play a critical part in the digital transformation of a world-leading media company, by assisting with the sales and adoption of an industry leading experience management platform.
The Sales Engineer will be responsible for explaining and selling the technical aspects of Media Platform's Identity, Payments, Subscription and CMS solutions to customers and prospects. Deep technical understanding of the associated platforms, payment processing and related APIs will be critical to the success of this role.
Primary Objectives:
• To set the stage for successful implementations, you will assist customers with initial product evaluations and share relevant customer success stories. Connecting the dots between the technical requirements of a customer's needs and the business requirements is elemental to the success of this position.
• Provide thought leadership to clients by gathering technical and business requirements and designing solutions using core APIs, platforms and services.
• Effectively communicate with all levels of Media Platforms and client technical and non-technical leaders and associates.
• Act as the technical point of consultation during customer POCs and technical deployments.
• Provide technology, solution, and digital thought leadership across the Media Platforms client and prospective client base.
• Own all technical sales handoff documentation and transition the project scope, requirements and customer expectations to the delivery team.
Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Work with the Client Services and Sales teams to identify and qualify business opportunities.
• Identify customer technical objections and develop a strategy to resolve technical blockers.
• Respond promptly to customer questions with deep, detailed technical explanations of product features and capabilities.
• Articulate the business and technical value of solutions and platforms.
• Prepare and deliver solution presentations or technical proposals.
• Work hands-on with customers to demonstrate platforms and technical solutions
• Provide technical expertise during customer proof-of-concept engagements including platform or API evaluations.
• Work with Product Management and Engineering to develop key reference architectures and solutions based on best practices and ultimately the delivery of business value.
• Travel to customer sites, conferences, and other related events as required.
Skills and Experience;
• 3-5 years experience with subscription billing and revenue platforms including paywalls and associated marketing technology
• 3-5 years experience with CMS and associated FRE services
• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services: Route 53, Cognito, API Gateway, Lambda
• Deep understanding of PHP/HTML/JavaScript/React
• Experience with Edge Cloud Platforms/CDNs
