Products & Reviews Editor, Goodhousekeeping.Com
GoodHousekeeping.com is looking for an enthusiastic Products & Reviews Editor with a strong background in eCommerce and a passion for covering the best deals and products across home, appliances, health, beauty, and parenting for the digital arm of the world's largest women's lifestyle magazine. Reporting to the Deputy Editor, the ideal candidate will be ready to work alongside the scientists and analysts in the 100-year-old Good Housekeeping Institute and dig into data to develop strategic insights and create ambitious content that will help us reach our commerce goals (and help readers discover products they'll love).
This person will work with Hearst's SEO team, eCommerce team, and the Good Housekeeping Institute experts to write, edit, and produce info-packed and spotlessly accurate content around products, including ''best of the test'' roundups, product reviews, first-person testimonials, gift guides, and consumer news. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and a strong writer who can parse through lab testing data and write it up in a clear, compelling, and upbeat way for consumers. We're looking for someone with a mix of editorial and analytical skills, who has experience working within content-based affiliate operations at a digital media brand.
Key Responsibilities:
• Writing and/or updating as many as 5 original product-focused pieces of content daily - including slideshows, listicles, and articles - in a way that is voice-y, highly shareable, search-optimized, and smartly packaged
• Assist with editing staff-contributed shopping- and product-related stories
• Tracking performance of commerce content in order to conceive, plan, and execute new areas of growth to increase affiliate commerce revenue
• Staying on top of breaking news, consumer alerts, trends, new products, and the latest buzzy stuff happening in the product space, and pitching the best ideas
• Conducting market work for gift guides
• Writing and project-managing copy for product-focused newsletters, videos, and social campaigns as needed
• Working with the photo, design, and video teams to optimize product stories with original imagery, graphics, video, and more
Qualifications:
• 3 years' experience creating lifestyle content at a digital-first outlet - strong preference for background in commerce content
• A whip-smart writer, reporter, and editor with a sense of humor who can turn in clean and concise copy on deadline
• An ability to write in the first person in a voice-y way when needed
• A strategic thinker with a strong service-journalism sensibility who is able to push the envelope when it comes to packaging
• Has a talent for digging up the coolest and most interesting products, as well as finding original reporting angles when it comes to consumer news
• Someone who understands analytics, and can translate them into editorial action - familiarity with Google Analytics, Looker, Skimlinks, or similar reporting tools is key
• A whiz when it comes to SEO best practices
• A team player who is proactive, organized, enthusiastic, and deadline-oriented, and is willing to pitch in whenever needed
• Experience producing multimedia and/or knowledge of video- or photo-editing platforms a plus
