Hearst Magazines is seeking an experienced and visionary Product Manager for Mobile Apps to own the end-to-end strategy, development, and success of our entire mobile app portfolio. This is a critical leadership role responsible for defining the future of how our millions of users engage with our iconic brands-from Esquire and Cosmopolitan to Good Housekeeping and Runner's World-on their mobile devices.
You will be the central hub for all things mobile, responsible for creating a cohesive, engaging, and best-in-class app ecosystem. This role requires a unique blend of strategic thinking, user empathy, technical fluency, and business acumen to drive growth, engagement, and monetization across our diverse set of mobile experiences.
RESPONSIBILITIES
What You'll Do:
• Vision & Strategy: Define and articulate a clear, compelling, and long-term product vision and strategy for Hearst Magazines' mobile app portfolio. Create and manage a strategic roadmap that aligns with overarching business goals, user needs, and market opportunities.
• End-to-End Ownership: Lead the entire product lifecycle from ideation, user research, and requirements definition to launch, post-launch analysis, and iteration. You are the ultimate owner of the mobile app P&L and KPIs.
• Roadmap & Execution: Translate the mobile strategy into a prioritized product roadmap. Write clear and concise user stories and product specifications, and work hand-in-hand with engineering, UX/UI design, and QA teams to ensure high-quality, on-time delivery.
• User-Centric Development: Champion a deep understanding of our users. Conduct user research, competitor analysis, and data analysis to identify user pain points and opportunities for innovation that will drive retention and delight.
• Data-Driven Decisions: Define and analyze key metrics to measure the success of our mobile products. Utilize A/B testing, user analytics, and other quantitative data to make informed product decisions and guide the roadmap.
• Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for mobile product initiatives. Effectively communicate your strategy, roadmap, and results to stakeholders across the organization, including executive leadership, editorial teams, ad sales, and marketing.
• Monetization & Growth: Partner with revenue teams to develop and optimize mobile-first monetization strategies, including subscriptions, in-app purchases, and innovative advertising experiences. Drive user acquisition and retention through compelling product features and marketing collaborations.
• Market Leadership: Stay at the forefront of mobile technology trends, platform guidelines (iOS and Android), and emerging best practices to ensure Hearst Magazines' apps remain innovative and competitive.
QUALIFICATIONS
Who You Are:
• Experience: 5 years of product management experience, with at least 3 years focused specifically on building and launching successful, high-scale, consumer-facing mobile applications (iOS and Android).
• Proven Strategist: Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a multi-year product strategy for a portfolio of mobile apps, with a clear track record of achieving user growth, engagement, and revenue goals.
• Execution Expert: Deep experience with Agile development methodologies and a proven ability to manage the product lifecycle from start to finish. You know how to get things done in a complex organization.
• User Advocate: A genuine passion for creating exceptional user experiences, with a strong portfolio of user-centric products. Experience with user research and usability testing methodologies is essential.
• Analytical Acumen: Highly analytical and data-driven. You are comfortable with mobile analytics platforms (e.g., Firebase, Amplitude), A/B testing tools, and using data to make compelling arguments.
• Exceptional Communicator: Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Ability to confidently communicate with and influence all levels of the organization, from engineers to C-level executives.
• Technical Fluency: While not a coding role, you must be able to hold your own in technical discussions to understand constraints, possibilities, and trade-offs.
• Media Passion (Preferred): Experience in the media, publishing, or content-creation industry is a significant plus. A passion for the Hearst brand portfolio is highly desirable.
Working at Hearst Magazines:
• Work with the Best: Collaborate with top-tier professionals across media, advertising, tech, fashion, lifestyle, and publishing, shaping the future of these dynamic industries.
• Grow Your Skills: Unlock your potential with access to innovative training programs, immersive workshops, and exclusive industry events.
• Work-Life Harmony: Enjoy the flexibility of hybrid work, empowering you to balance professional success with personal priorities.
• Foster Connection & Belonging: Join our Employee Resource Groups and help create a welcoming workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered.
• Wellness First: Prioritize your well-being with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance from Day 1.
• Plan for Your Financial Future: Enjoy competitive financial perks, including a 401(k) plan with a generous company match.
