Photo Assistant, Food Network Magazine and The Pioneer Woman Magazine
Food Network Magazine and Pioneer Woman Magazine are looking for an energetic, detailed, and deadline-oriented photo assistant to join its visuals team. S/he will work with the photo and art departments to perform administrative duties, including assisting the photo director and senior photo editor with shoots, securing releases, receiving image delivery, and photo research. The ideal candidate has a passion for photography and food, and has done at least one photo internship with a consumer magazine visuals team.

What you'll do:
• Manage invoices and expenses
• Maintain and organize imagery using Hearst's digital asset-management system
• Call in products and props for shoots and then pack and return them in an organized and timely manner
• Learn to negotiate rates with photo agencies, stock agencies, freelance photographers, and stylists
• Assist the photo director and senior photo editor with producing shoots, helping to schedule and coordinate as needed
• Learn to conduct stock and internal photo research for magazines, website, newsletters, and special projects, adhering to budget while maintaining high quality of photography
• Create and manage contracts and process invoices for payment
• Manage and input photo credits
Who you are:
• Bachelor's degree in photography, journalism, or related field
• At least one photo internship in a fast-paced deadline environment; previous consumer magazine experience is a plus
• Strong interest in/knowledge of photography and food
• Experience researching and editing images from a wide variety of stock agencies and sources is preferable
• Experience with photo rights and negotiating rates is preferable
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Skilled in Adobe Suite CS, Microsoft Office
• Must be organized, proactive, and willing to take initiative, with a positive, easygoing personality and the ability to work calmly under pressure
