Photo Assistant, Country Living and Veranda
Country Living and Veranda are looking for an enthusiastic and extremely organized photo assistant to join the Creative Team. The Photo Assistant will assist the Photo Editor and art department with photo contracts, invoicing, image research, and photo shoot production across all pillars of each brand. Must be a multi-tasking team player with a passion for photography. NOTE: For consideration, resumes must be submitted in PDF format with salary requirements and a link to a portfolio of work.
Responsibilities include:
• Negotiating rates with photo agencies, stock agencies, freelance photographers, and stylists
• Maintaining and organizing imagery using Hearst's digital asset-management system
• Collaborating with designers and editors to ensure all photo expectations are met
• Assisting Photo Editor with producing shoots as necessary
• Gathering products for stories each issue and scheduling/coordinating shoots
• Researching current trends in photography
• Adhering to budget while maintaining high quality of photography
• Inputting photo credits during production
• Helping maintain photo studio
• Managing invoices, shoot budgets, expenses, use of time, and tight deadlines
• Helping organize and returning props as needed
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in photography, journalism, or related field
• Related photo internship experience in a fast-paced deadline environment; previous magazine experience is a plus
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Skilled in Adobe Suite CS, Microsoft Office
• Experience with photo rights and negotiating rates
• Experience researching and editing images from a wide variety of stock agencies and sources
