But we're more than just our magazines. We engage our audience across all mediums and channels-print, digital, video, and social-with sophisticated content creation, distribution, and data capabilities. We create, package, and sell products with cutting-edge technology and proprietary platforms. Together, we are reinventing publishing for the 21st century.
Popular Mechanics-part of Hearst's Enthusiast Group-is searching for an energetic News Editor brimming with creativity and curiosity to assign, edit, and publish daily news content across our site, social feeds, and other channels.

This role is crucial to our team, demanding an unstoppable creative force who can unearth compelling stories from every corner of Pop Mech's world-science, tech, engineering, space, math, defense, aviation, energy, and more-and produce a high volume of digital news stories each day.
The ideal candidate will excel in identifying trending topics and current events that resonate with Pop Mech's readers, offering irresistible information that educates and empowers them to lead more interesting and capable lives. This editor will take the initiative to craft and fine-tune stories that meet and exceed our news team's primary goal: boosting the daily growth of our organic audience.
The role is based in the Enthusiast Group headquarters in Easton, Pennsylvania, with an in-office presence of 3 days a week; we will not be able to accommodate remote workers.
Please note: For consideration, resumes must be submitted in PDF format with a cover letter, salary requirements, and a link to a portfolio of work.
What you'll do:
* Collaborate closely with the senior editorial staff, including Pop Mech's Deputy Editor and News Director, to conceptualize, execute, and publish daily content that aligns with established performance metrics.

* Constantly monitor news, cutting-edge research, ideas, conversations, and the latest viral trends happening in our core topic areas, ensuring our stories are as timely as they are relevant.
* Obsessively workshop and craft attention-grabbing display copy to reach our current audience while also thinking of how to reach new users.
* Produce stories daily while simultaneously creating longer works for our site, magazine, social feeds, and other channels as needed.
What you'll bring:
* At least four years of proven experience in editing, writing, creating, and distributing digital content, ideally with a rich background or deep interest in fields including, but not limited to, science, technology, machines, outdoors, DIY, military, and maker culture-any place curiosity leads.
