We're looking for a visionary marketing leader to redefine how a modern media company builds lasting relationships with its audiences. As Executive Director, Lifecycle Marketing, you'll shape the strategy behind one of the largest and most influential email ecosystems in the industry-driving engagement, loyalty, and revenue at scale.
Key Responsibilities (What You Are Doing)
• Define and execute a unified email and lifecycle marketing strategy across acquisition, newsletters, and retention to drive engagement, loyalty, and monetization.
• Partner with Editorial, Marketing, and Business Unit leaders to align lifecycle initiatives with subscription, commerce, advertising, and brand goals.
• Reimagine the role of newsletters as engines of audience growth, brand affinity, and revenue-from flagship products to new launches.
• Advance first- and zero-party data strategies in collaboration with Product, Data, and Engineering to power segmentation, personalization, and CRM capabilities.
• Lead experimentation and expansion into new lifecycle channels, including SMS, to deepen audience relationships.
• Inspire, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of senior leaders and managers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and excellence.
• Drive operational rigor and prioritization across a complex, multi-brand portfolio, focusing resources on the highest-impact opportunities.
• Communicate performance, insights, and recommendations to senior stakeholders, influencing strategy and business direction.
Qualifications (What We're Looking For)
• A strategic, hands-on leader who can translate vision into execution across large-scale marketing programs.
• Deep expertise in email, CRM, or lifecycle marketing, with a strong understanding of acquisition, engagement, and retention strategies.
• Fluency in marketing technology ecosystems, including ESPs, CRM platforms, and personalization frameworks.
• A customer-obsessed mindset that blends editorial intuition with data-driven decision-making.
• Proven experience leading, mentoring, and scaling high-performing teams in complex organizations.
• Strong cross-functional collaborator with the ability to influence at all levels of the business.
• Experience in media, subscription, or commerce-driven environments preferred.
• This role operates on a hybrid schedule, with four days per week in our New York City office.
