Social Media Director, Good Housekeeping Overview (Why This Role?)
Good Housekeeping is seeking a strategic, creative, and data-driven Social Media Director to lead the brand's presence across platforms and drive meaningful audience engagement and growth. Reporting to the Editor-in-Chief, this role will shape the future of Good Housekeeping's social identity, overseeing innovative strategies that strengthen the brand, expand its reach, and foster deep connections with both loyal readers and new audiences.
Key Responsibilities (What You're Doing)
• Lead social media strategy and execution across platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, Pinterest, and emerging channels.
• Oversee day-to-day social publishing, ensuring all content reflects the brand's voice, editorial mission, and visual identity.
• Manage, mentor, and support the social media team to deliver best-in-class content and measurable results.
• Develop innovative, social-first campaigns and franchises to support editorial tentpoles, brand initiatives, membership programs (GH), newsletters, and branded content.
• Partner with editorial, video, and creative teams to package content for maximum performance and resonance on each platform.
• Translate analytics and performance insights into actionable strategies that drive growth, engagement, and conversions.
• Experiment with new formats, trends, and tools to keep Good Housekeeping at the forefront of digital innovation.
• Represent social interests within cross-departmental conversations, ensuring strategies align with brand and business objectives.
Qualifications (What We're Looking For)
• 7 years of professional experience in social media strategy, ideally within media, lifestyle, or consumer brands.
• Proven track record of growing and engaging audiences across multiple social platforms.
• Deep expertise in platform best practices, analytics tools, and emerging trends.
• Strong editorial sensibility and storytelling ability with a knack for adapting content across formats.
• Experience managing and mentoring teams in fast-paced, collaborative environments.
• Passion for Good Housekeeping's mission and audience, with the ability to balance editorial integrity and business priorities.
• Creative thinker who is both strategic and execution-focused, able to manage high-visibility projects with clarity and impact.
• This position is based in New York City with a hybrid schedule (in office 3 days per week).
