This is a Full Time Job
Cosmopolitan is hiring a Videographer to join our video team! This person must be able to excel in a fast-paced environment and be able to balance multiple projects simultaneously. The right candidate will have a keen interest in creating engaging video content that offers a fresh, nuanced, and inclusive perspective to Cosmo's video presence. The role requires flexibility and the willingness to operate multiple skill sets. The person in this position will be using their creativity and shooting sensibility to create videos in a wide range of topics, including social justice and politics, beauty, pop culture, relationships and more.
This role reports to the Supervising Producer.
Responsibilities
• Shoot primary camera and run sound on a wide range of projects, from smaller digital beauty or celebrity shoots to longer documentary web series.
• Collaborate and develop with producers to plan and execute shoots. Be able to provide lighting setups, samples of shooting styles and treatments for new projects.
• Shoot in a variety of creative styles, according to the storytelling needed for each project. This includes follow documentary style, sit-down interviews, and stylized beauty or lifestyle shoots.
• Assist in the transportation, management, organization and maintenance of
Cosmopolitan's camera and lighting equipment.
Requirements
• Positive attitude and ability to work calmly under pressure are essential!
• Four (4) years of experience as a camera operator, including multiple projects as lead camera operator or DP
• Bachelor's degree in video production, journalism, film or related field
• Knowledge of the digital video landscape and keen understanding of the competition
• Solid reel showing a variety of shooting styles and subjects – from planned interviews to shooting documentary and in-studio projects
• Expertise in a wide range of cameras specifically the Canon C300, Sony FS7 and F55, with other camera experience a plus.
• Expertise in lighting techniques, and solid knowledge of audio / media management and workflow
