This is a Full Time Job
As a Director of Media Strategy at Hearst Magazines, you'll be charged with developing smart media frameworks that bring the Hearst portfolio to life for our advertising and affiliate partners. You'll be at the intersection of analytics, marketing and digital revenue operations – weaving together core concepts from each discipline to bring key moments to market. With a focus on Commerce initiatives, you will be responsible for leading and executing the strategy to join media programs with commerce results, ensuring the successful integration of affiliate marketing within our digital advertising ecosystem.
This person will work closely with the sales, marketing, and affiliate teams to identify new revenue opportunities, build strategic relationships, and optimize packaging and performance for commerce-focused clients. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of digital media, affiliate marketing, and the publishing landscape, with a track record of success in driving results for partners.
RESPONSIBILITIES
What You'll Do
• Oversee the implementation and upkeep of preferred affiliate partnerships, including identifying and approving participants, providing supporting services and reporting, and coordinating with sales to develop impactful programs.
• Project manage the execution of key affiliate partner deals, including tracking performance, communicating pacing updates to internal and external stakeholders, reporting on revenue forecasts and profitability, and coordinating with buying teams to reach goals.
• Analyze industry trends, competitor activities, and audience behavior to continuously evolve the affiliate media strategy, working closely with Ad Product and Ad Product Marketing to develop and evangelize the suite.
• Consult with Sales and Account Management to help determine the best commerce offerings for media clients, contributing to internal planning, and attending client meetings as an industry expert.
• Model out commerce partnership structures, building out deal terms and tying together all aspects of the relationship to ensure overarching success.
• Manage team of Commerce Account Managers to support the execution and growth of the business.
QUALIFICATIONS
Who You Are:
• Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant work experience in digital advertising and the affiliate commerce space.
• Strong knowledge of digital media channels, affiliate marketing platforms, and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, affiliate networks, paid media tools).
• Experience in a digital publishing environment, with a solid understanding of content creation, audience engagement, and monetization strategies.
• Have a passion for data and analytics, with the ability to adeptly organize and interpret data, and the capacity to provide data-driven recommendations.
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interface with clients, partners, and leadership teams.
• Highly collaborative and comfortable working cross-functionally in a dynamic environment.
This position is based in the NYC office a minimum of 3 days a week. No remote option.
