Harper's Bazaar is looking for a digital director to oversee the digital and social platforms of one of the most storied brands in American fashion. This role will evolve Harper's Bazaar's culture-shifting visual and literary legacy with an urgent and thoughtful approach towards the issues shaping our world today.
We're looking for someone whose expansive curiosity and knowledge of style and culture is equaled by their expertise at building, leading and nurturing a team. Ideal candidates should have a strong sense of story, sharp editing skills, and know how to contribute to the daily cultural conversation and break through the digital noise. The candidate will be able to lead the team to meet goals across platforms (traffic, ecommerce, SEO) as well as work cross-functionally to concept and execute tentpole packages across print, digital, social, and events. The candidate should be able to call on established writers as well as up and coming voices to produce an engaging mix of news, fashion and beauty service, social-led franchises, and more.
What you'll do
• Oversee content across digital and social platforms, ensuring a mix of content that feels urgent, thoughtful, elevated and brand-right
• Lead, manage and mentor digital and social teams
• Work cross-functionally with audience development teams, ecommerce teams, and sales teams to execute on shared goals
• Ideate/shape/execute/edit editorial packages across all platforms, working with print, video, and digital teams
• Act as brand ambassador for the occasional panel, expert quote, or with sales clients
What you'll bring:
• 10 years of experience in editorial, with at least five in digital and social
• At least 5 years of experience managing a team
• Deep knowledge of the fashion and beauty industries
• A robust network of freelancers and relationships with talent to call upon
• Strong editing skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines
• Deep understanding of Google and social analytics, SEO, experience with affiliate programs
• Experience working with brands/sales teams to build out editorial programs
• Love for following the news and culture cycle and the ability to shape stories that move the conversation forward
