Your impact
Do you love warmer weather? Do you crave a house with a porch? Do you want to work out of a converted biscuit factory with an on-site ice cream shop, beer warehouse, farmer's market, and nationally recognized restaurants? Do you have a soft spot for old houses, vintage shopping, and Dolly Parton memes? Hearst is hiring an innovative, strategic, and whip-smart digital director to lead the editorial operations of CountryLiving.com, a premier home and lifestyle site. In this role, you will provide leadership and daily direction for CountryLiving.com's presence across all digital and social platforms, with a keen focus on implementing content strategies to drive aggressive audience growth and loyalty.

• Develop and implement new content strategies in order to maintain and grow the audience
• Obsessively monitor and respond to user data with the goal of creating more-engaging, high-quality content that attracts new readers and converts current ones into loyal visitors
• Serve as the primary digital liaison for the brand, representing the site's interests and needs while partnering with various internal groups, including product, analytics, audience development, consumer marketing, and ad sales
• Develop a short- and long-term edit calendar, including social, SEO, ecommerce and newsletter strategy, to grow the site's footprint
• Oversee Country Living's social accounts, focusing on growing engagement, loyalty, and traffic
• Collaborate with the print team to promote brand extensions and integrated franchises to bring them to life online in unique, engaging ways
Who you are
• You have at least 10 years of professional consumer editorial experience, with particular expertise in lifestyle and service journalism and deep roots in digital
• You have experience leading a team in a fast-changing digital publishing environment, with the ability to quickly adapt to shifting priorities
• You have an uncanny instinct for what makes content go viral, along with a demonstrated ability to deliver against that editorial vision
• You have a data-driven content philosophy, relying on traffic, engagement, and revenue metrics to inform daily decisions
• You have superb problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to testing different strategies across the site and social channels
• You can identify new content buckets that target growth and service, as well as hone in on gaps in home and lifestyle space where the brand could be successful
• You can simultaneously think big-picture and display a strict attention to detail
• You are well-versed in web analytics tools and social publishing platforms, including Google Analytics, Socialflow, Google Trends, SEMRush, and Crowdtangle
• You are capable of working well both autonomously and collaboratively with people up and down the organization
• You are able to cover breaking news or priority events outside business houses
