The Hearst Food Group is looking for a dynamic, detail-oriented food enthusiast with a strong digital background. The associate editor will pitch, write, and produce content. This is an opportunity to work and learn in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment with the team that creates the food content for the digital and print versions of Good Housekeeping, Woman's Day, Women's Health, Prevention, and Country Living, as well as other Hearst titles. The ideal candidate is a smart content packager and skilled writer who is open to new ideas, quick to think on their feet, and clued in to how our readers use search, social media, and other platforms to engage with our brands. Must be a team player who is comfortable collaborating and supporting others in a high-energy, deadline-driven environment, and an organized self-starter who can juggle a variety of tasks while remaining organized and productive. Responsibilities:
• Pitch, report, and write up to 5 original digital pieces daily, including service and evergreen stories
• Contribute ideas for print features, single pages, and columns in various publications and write supporting copy (heds, deks, tips)
• Perform market work for various print publications' news, products pages, and taste tests
• Execute on SEO-driven priorities, including making both minor and significant updates to existing articles
• Utilize CMS tools, strategically select photos, and work with the art team and food director on original design and photography to optimize all content for maximum engagement and shareability
• Use data tools/analytics daily to monitor traffic and understand what works and why, gearing coverage toward that type of content
• Edit digital and print stories produced by other team members to endure digital optimization
• Keep abreast of new products, trends, food personalities, and relevant tips
• Attend and cover press previews and other industry events as needed
Requirements:
• At least 3 years' professional experience working for a digital media brand, in the food space (print experience is a plus)
• Strong writing and reporting skills, with a knack for crafting click-y headlines
• Ability to shift gears quickly in a daily web/print publishing environment, and pitch in on whatever needs to get done
• Experience publishing digital content within a CMS and working with analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Google Trends
• Knowledge of SEO and best practices for optimizing content for the web, including Google News
• Experience with Photoshop, Looker, and social scheduling tools a plus
• Bachelor's degree
