Hearst Autos is seeking an editor with a love for all aspects of car culture. Based in New York and reporting to the Editor in Chief of Road & Track, the Associate Editor will work with the R&T staff to write stories for roadandtrack.com, and will contribute to the editing process and print magazine.
Responsibilities:
• Quickly write daily blogs, videos, and news stories for roadandtrack.com
• Report on major events like auto shows and drive events
• Cultivate relationships and sources to provide quality reporting that goes beyond aggregation
• Think across platforms to tell stories in multiple forms of media including print, digital, and video
• Assist in copy editing and fact checking stories for print and online
• Have an innate understanding of the Road & Track brand
• Collaborate with other Hearst properties to stay on top of current content trends, share best practices and be a part of the editorial community
Requirements:
• At least 2 years of experience in digital media, with at least one year covering autos
• Background in reporting and writing stories on short notice for digital
• Familiarity with publishing on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram
• Knowledge of Google Analytics and SocialFlow
• Interest in cars, car culture, and R&T's vast history
• Understanding of what a car enthusiast audience wants to see in print, digital, on video, and beyond
• Creative thinker willing to push the envelope and bring fresh, innovative ideas to life
• Bachelor's degree
