Full Time Job
Good Housekeeping is looking for a detail-oriented, organized associate art director with exceptional print and digital design skills. She/he must be able to produce pages and digital content with sophisticated design and typography, and to translate editorial concepts that reflect the Good Housekeeping brand. Must have experience in working with and directing photographers. The ideal candidate is a team player who can meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment and who excels at working both independently and in a collaborative team environment. She/he will also provide design guidance to members of the team when needed. This position reports to the creative director. Responsibilities:
• Design visually interesting features on GH.com and pages in book
• Conceptualize and design complex editorial packages that rely heavily on art treatment
• Brainstorm art concepts with the editorial team
• Work with photographers to execute ideas
• Oversee design and production of special projects and supplements
• Assist in the creation of propping/styling notes for photo shoots
• Support the creative director
• Assist in production
Qualifications:
• Degree in graphic design
• 2 to 4 years of post-grad design experience at a major consumer magazine or website
• Experience with both digital and print design
• Strong design skills
• Ability to conceptualize
• Ability to understand and execute the Good Housekeeping aesthetic
• Ability to work under pressure and rise to creative challenges under tight deadlines
• Experience with InDesign, Woodwing, Photoshop, After Effects, and Illustrator desired
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary
