This is a Full Time Job
The Good Housekeeping Institute is looking for a motivated, self-starter to join its team as an Assistant Commerce Editor & Product Tester. This role will support the GH Institute's product testing across our top-performing categories, including but not limited to appliances, bedding, cleaning, pet, personal care and electronics. You will create and update a range of copy, and assist with testing and project management to ensure product reviews and recommendations are search optimized, useful and up-to-date. You will make changes to live content and create new content and collaborate with writers, other editors, product analysts and SEO strategists to plan and execute timely updates, while also monitoring inventory issues and other product news that could impact our testing and content creation. The ideal candidate is hyper passionate about consumer products and shopping, obsessed with the lifestyle news and trends, and brings an efficient and organized yet innovative approach to creating content – including onsite roundups, print features, social stories and materials for summits and events.
What You'll Do
• Liaise with GH Institute experts to edit and update product-related content across home, health, fitness, beauty, technology and other relevant lifestyle sections.
• Write compelling content for print or digital, which could include but isn't limited to product reviews, feature stories, product roundups, expert advice and video.
• Collaborate with GH Institute analysts and engineers during testing.
• Scan industry news for changes that affect products and advice in your areas of coverage, communicating swift responses to our readers with our editors and social media team.
• Systematically evaluate existing content for consistency, flagging dated sections for revisions and making corrections as necessary.
• Opportunity to create relevant how-to videos for gh.com and other social/digital channels like YouTube with possibility for expanded channel.
• Assist in coordinating consumer research projects/surveys as needed.
• Coordinate company art, images and samples for photography.
• Help maintain and update editorial schedules and databases.
• Create and update sales and deals content and print or other content as needed.
Who You Are
• 2-3 years of experience on a lifestyle or product reviews editorial team
• Enthusiasm for consumer product news and trends
• Familiarity with a variety of testing methods and the competitive landscape
• Deadline-driven, strategic thinker who can balance multiple projects and competing priorities
• Familiarity with Omniture, Chartbeat, Google Analytics, or similar analytics tools
• Knowledge of SEO and best practices for optimizing content for the web
• Experience with HTML, content management systems, blogging systems, and other tools
• Strong understanding of content that works for social audiences
• Experience producing multimedia and/or knowledge of video- and photo-editing platforms
• Highly organized analytical thinker with effective communication skills
The base salary for this role is from $60,000 to $64,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
