Associate Publisher, Group Marketing Director
The Opportunity
Reporting to the SVP, Group Publishing Director and Chief Revenue Officer, the Associate Publisher of Marketing will oversee marketing for Food Network Magazine, HGTV Magazine and The Pioneer Woman Magazine, defining each brand's strategic positions while also guiding, developing and packaging innovative opportunities for the group's vast array of advertisers.
The position requires a dynamic, collaborative, strategic marketer who is adept at delivering creative solutions and innovative ideas that deliver measurable results for advertisers, connect with consumers and drive revenue. This individual will be tapped into consumer and marketplace trends and develop strategic partnerships to create unique sales opportunities for each brand.
Key Responsibilities
• Work with the SVP/CRO and Associate Publishers of Sales on the creation and implementation of a marketing plan as well as the development of key branding/positioning initiatives.
• Develop brand strategy initiatives and create strategic points of difference that is consistently communicated through all sales collateral (general/client presentations, media kit, sell sheets, compelling proposals, etc).
• Conceive multi-platform programs with Discovery Inc. partners to produce campaigns offering a cohesive message that is amplified and optimized for each medium – print, digital, social, video and on-air.
• Pro-actively provide innovative marketing solutions to meet client objectives
• Manage and motivate a team of marketers and designers
• Edit/approve proposals created by supervised staff; write proposals as needed
• Accompany sales team on calls and work with sales on account specific challenges as needed
• Manage marketing budget and budgeting of all marketing initiatives
• Form a positive working relationship with all stakeholders (ad sales, editorial, and Discovery, Inc joint venture partners) as well as other Hearst titles and Hearst corporate marketing to encourage joint marketing initiatives
Requirements
/Skills/Experience
• Must have leadership experience in consumer magazines/media. Food, CPG and/or home category background preferred. Management experience also required.
• Demonstrated success crafting brand and marketing strategy resulting in robust ad sales
• Must demonstrate outstanding creative and collaboration skills, with a track record leading brainstorms, and inspiring, motivating and connecting with others to create compelling programs
• Strong communication as well as presentation skills; must be able to pitch ideas and onboard others toward a common strategic goal
• Exceptional copywriting/editing skills across a range of styles from creative copywriting to formal business writing
• Demonstrated proactive creative thinking with penchant for generating new ideas
• Must be very focused with strong attention to detail; and have a hands-on and resourceful leadership style. Must have ability to maintain personal productivity while also managing staff
