Hearst Magazines seeks an Integrated Account Manager for the Hearst Men's Group, including the Esquire, Men's Health and Popular Mechanics brands, covering the Entertainment and Supplements categories as well as Eastern Canada. The position is based in New York. Responsibilities include selling advertising for the 3 men's group titles across all media platforms.
The position requires making print and digital sales calls and presentations, as well as creative and thorough follow-up for every call; extensive interaction with agencies and clients to determine key marketing objectives for all accounts; maintaining and growing advertising revenue and share-of-market.
Ideal candidate must be entrepreneurial and idea-driven in approach to generating business, maintain strong agency/client contacts at all levels and have excellent presentation and marketing skills. He/she will have an optimistic, can-do attitude that represents the spirit of the brand.
Key Responsibilities
• Driving revenue across all platforms for the brands within assigned territory, agencies and/or categories
• Make a minimum of 8 outside sales calls weekly and travel within assigned territory
• Consultative sales approach from sales call preparation, creative and thorough follow-up for every meeting
• Interact extensively with agencies and clients to determine key initiatives for all accounts
• Build and maintain strong client and agency relationships at all levels
• Use various sales aides, presentations, research, marketing and all resources to help effectively deliver sales message to clients
• Cross collaboration with marketing, corporate, production, finance and other teams within brand unit
• Provide accurate and timely business estimates, forecasts, paperwork/administration
• Keep relevant others informed (management, split partners, group) regarding account status, proposals, personnel changes, etc.
• Traveling to attend industry trade shows and client meetings is expected
Requirements/Skills/Experience
• 4 year College degree
• Passion for our brands and a desire for a career in media sales
• Professional presence with strong phone, written and presentation skills
• Must be energetic, an effective communicator, and have the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships
• Results-oriented track record, and ability to meet and exceed sales goals
• Enjoy being part of a team but willing to think outside the box to achieve sales goals
• Ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of publishing experience in advertising/marketing or media agency experience.
• Must be an IAB certified seller or take and pass IAB test within first year of tenure
