OVERALL SUMMARY:
HBO is seeking a Vice President, Organizational Effectiveness (OE). This position plays a critical role in driving culture and shaping our leadership throughout the organization. As a leader of this team you will partner with internal and external stakeholders to design, develop and facilitate organizational development solutions. They will assist in the development and execution of the talent management strategy for HBO, as well as, leading a team that is responsible for directing the organization's development processes.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The VP of OE will partner with the Sr. Vice President of Talent Management and will be responsible for a team of five. They will assess, develop and retain high performing employees throughout HBO offices (United States, Latin America and London). The successful candidate will be one with leadership capability and a passion and expertise in Organizational Development, Talent Management and Executive Partnership. HBO is strongly positioned in a highly competitive/creative industry that is experiencing exciting but rapid change. We need our OE function to reflect that by staying ahead of the curve.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• ORGANIZATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS
• Thought-leader focused on change management, employee engagement and recognition programs
• Create programs to inculcate newly developed values throughout the organization.
• Recommend development consultants and 3rd party partnership courses to ensure achievement of organizational goals
• Work closely with Employee Relations team to facilitate a variety of interventions, including team building, offsites and change initiatives.
• LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT
• Oversees research, recommendations, design and development of training and development strategies, plans and systems to ensure the organization is skilled to meet current and future needs. Works with business units to develop specifications of course content. Utilizes needs assessment tools to determine applicability of proposed training programs.
• Identifies and implements improvements in training curriculum and courseware using standard testing methods, needs analysis, and methods of redesigning training programs.
• Design, conduct and evaluate post instruction outcomes using current learning evaluation methods.
• Provides consultation to business units to assist in the identification of the training/development needs of staff - current and future. Identifies external resources to conduct specialized training for the organization. Conducts follow-up to determine applicability and effectiveness of course material.
• Oversees employee and management non-technical skills training courses. Works with trainer to develop lesson plans including the method and mode of media to be presented for participants in classroom lectures and/or group sessions.
• Oversees companywide new hire orientation and onboarding
• Design, administer and analyze strategic training evaluation
• TALENT MANAGEMENT
• Partner with the SVP of Talent Management on creating a strategic talent management framework that addresses HBO's business needs, to include: i.e. talent assessment, succession planning, capability management, employee opinion surveys and talent development
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
• Demonstrate solid knowledge of adult learning theory, teaching experience, and demonstrated competence in presenting leadership and training courses
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; effective interpersonal and team dynamic skills
• Strong presentation and facilitation skills; excellent organizational and consulting skills
• Ability to work within a collaborative environment, multi-task, and work within aggressive timeframes and competing priorities and projects

• Demonstrate experience in project management principles and coaching skills
• Must be organized, able to act independently, have an eye for detail and can quickly move from design to delivery
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelors degree required, Master's degree preferred or equivalent business experience in Organizational Design & Development, Human Resources, or related field.
• Ideal candidate will possess 10 plus years of experience creating and managing the development of learning projects. Or equivalent experience including instructional design and course development.
• Candidates should have considerable experience working with clients at all levels of an organization and particularly those at the highest levels, including C suite.
• Candidate must demonstrate ability to build strong trusted client relationships, operate effectively in ambiguity, adapt traditional approaches to meet stakeholder needs, deliver complex projects in short timeframes, influence and manage teams without direct authority, and maintain objectivity in all actions.
