The Job
The Analytics Engineering team at WarnerMedia provides all the end-to-end engineering support for our various US marketing stakeholders. This includes all the data modeling, architecture, design and enablement of our data visualizations for all our US marketing channels and lines of business.
As the Analytics Engineer - Data Architecture, you are highly skilled and well-rounded engineer at designing data solutions and delivering scalable analytics products and frameworks. You are adept at relational data modeling and architecture, data normalization, wrangling, and transformations using a variety of data tools (ie. SQL, Python, Alteryx, etc.), ETL principals and best practices, as well as building reports and dashboards using BI tools (ie. Tableau, Looker, Power BI, etc.).
This role is tasked with owning the design and implementation of effective database and data warehouse solutions to serve our marketing use cases. This includes managing the design, modeling and architecture of our semantic layers and upstream data pipelines to support ad-hoc, self-service analytics, and data visualizations for Marketing. This role will work closely with marketers, analytics and data engineers, data scientists, analysts, and senior leadership to define metrics and implement the best solutions to help drive meaningful insights and support critical business decision-making.
The Daily
Business Enablement
• Coordinate with other marketing, analytics, and technology teams to identify innovative data solutions that meet fluctuating and rapidly evolving goals and objectives.
• Support cross departmental core metrics and data dependencies with leadership visibility.
• Design and implement logical data models and transformations to support flexible self-service reporting.
Data Architecture and Development
• Champion the management and future enhancements of the logical data models for each of our marketing channel
• Understand the business requirements and KPIs of our stakeholders in order to establish the logical data definitions
• Create data models, relational semantic layers and aggregate datasets using SQL and solid ETL principles in Snowflake to solve specific problems or new initiatives, and enable performant and flexible reporting underlying our visualizations
• Make sure that all data models are complete, optimized, and scalable to meet all future needs, and act as a single source-of-truth for all our digital marketing data
• Deliver solutions to democratize data cross-functionally and across our ecosystem
• Provide the tools and skills to enable our engineers, analysts, and data scientists to perform ad-hoc analytics into the data and surface previously unseen insights about our business and our customers' interactions with us
• Design data solutions to ensure data integrity throughout our pipelines, and support QA of our reports against in-platform
• Support the adoption and training of our data products for self-service data discovery and reporting
• Participate in the creation and support of data modeling and architectural standards and best practices.
Research
• Continually research and improve new methods and enhancements to our data architecture and pipelines
• Identify new and emerging technologies, methods, trends and techniques
• Rapidly deliver on new concepts through prototyping that can be presented for feedback and iteration
The Essentials
• Undergraduate or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or similar required
• 5+ years relevant work experience in data modeling, data engineering and enterprise and information architecture, preferably within a marketing and sales environment, and currently working in a similar role
• Expertise in SQL, data pipeline and workflow management tools, as well as data warehousing (Snowflake, BigQuery)
• Familiarity with data visualization and analytics tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau)
• Experience with ETL solutions
• Proficient in data manipulation & data-wrangling technologies (SQL & Python)
• Analyzing, compiling, cleansing, interpreting, joining and staging data
• Knowledge of Waterfall and Agile methodologies in relation to defined data deliverables and experience in multiple data platforms
• Able to facilitate user requirement gathering to inform design, or reverse engineer requirements from existing data sources & applications
• Experience with successful technical leadership, working as an architect on complex projects
• Understanding of digital marketing, social, and advertising technologies, such as Google Marketing Platform, Google Ad Manager, Social Ad Managers, AppsFlyer, and/or Braze
• Understanding of the digital media ecosystem and subscription business model
• Excellent problem-solving skills and initiative
• Proven ability to collaborate with key partners and stakeholders to define metrics, identify requirements and solve problems independently
• Must be able to handle multiple tasks with changing priorities, communicating changes in scope and schedule to all parties concerned
• Willingness to learn quickly and autonomously in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Able to work flexible hours, including possible overtime, when necessary
