Position Summary:
The Medical Director implements a professional, process driven, evidence based and progressive approach to treating and rehabilitating our players. This person will be responsible for leading and overseeing all processes connected to athletic training, physical therapy and soft tissue therapy. This person will also collaborate closely with physicians, both team physicians and identified experts, and implement their recommendations for medical treatment and care.

Responsibilities
include, but are not limited to the following:
• Lead the Sixers Medical team, including the areas of Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, and Soft Tissue Therapy.
• Design, implement, and document best-in-class programs and processes within those areas, including injury prevention, rehabilitation, and recovery.
• Ensure staff within those areas maintains organizational standards for excellence via education, collaboration, feedback and continual learning.
• Make recommendations for the Athlete Care budget, including capital expenditures and professional development support for staff.
• Implement meritocratic hiring processes in order to identify, recruit and attract elite professionals who fit within our team-first, player-centric culture.
• Establish connections and collaborations with domain experts both locally and globally.
• When needed, identify and coordinate external medical support for staff and players.
• Educate staff on methodology, technology and protocols that can be used to address existing problems.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting within Athlete Care department and to designated front office leadership.
Qualifications
(educational, experience and basic knowledge requirements):
• 5 years of experience in a medical role supporting a professional or amateur sports organization, with a preference of experience at the NBA level
• Prior experience directing a basketball medical program is preferred
• Advanced Education (MD/PhD/MS) in Sports Medicine or related field is preferred
• Professional Certifications in key medical areas (Diagnosis, Treatment, Physical Therapy, Athletic Training, etc.) is preferred
