Assistant General Counsel

This is a Full Time Job

Our Legal Department is currently seeking an Assistant General Counsel, reporting to the Global General Counsel, to work on a variety of matters that include advice related to publishing, defamation and copyright, and film/TV licensing and production.

Responsibilities
• Provides general legal advice on a range of publishing related matters that include libel and copyright.
• Drafts and oversees film/television production and licensing agreements.
• Provides advice on business law such as business transactions, bankruptcy, antitrust, and contracts.
• Conducts pre-publication legal review of manuscripts for libel, privacy and other potential claims.

Qualifications
• 6+ years' experience working on publishing law issues as well as film/television production and licensing
• Knowledge of publishing related fields of libel and copyright
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with and assist internal clients
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
• Organizational and follow-through skills and ability to render clear advice in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and competing priorities

This position is open to remote work. If remote, some travel to New York office is required. Must be willing to work New York (EST) office hours.
