This is a Part Time Unpaid Internship
The Programming department identifies, secures, and creates original program content for the networks that further the brand attributes; making Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel a unique viewing destination for consumers. The department works closely internally with several different teams including: Distribution, Creative Services, Marketing, PR and Operations. Externally the department interacts with entertainment studios like Twentieth Century Fox, Paramount, Sony, Warner Brothers and NBC Universal. The department creates both original series and movies in addition to acquiring off-net series and movies from studio distributors.
ESSENTIAL INTERN FUNCTIONS
• Understand and develop knowledge of programming strategy as it applies to acquisitions and scheduling
• Script and book coverage
• Participate in recommending potential acquisitions by receiving, tracking, screening and creating written evaluations for movies and series identifying overall program strategy conformity
• Data entry
• Participate in scheduling duties, including the creation of support materials for monthly schedules and detailed competitive research
• Identify and track acquisitions in the marketplace
• Maintain weekly programming news bulletin
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Crown Media interns are unpaid. Although internships are unpaid (school credit only), we do provide a general $500 stipend upon completion of internship. Interested students MUST meet the following criteria:
Basic Qualifications
• Must be 18 years or older
• In pursuit of a degree (Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's) from an accredited college or university
• Must be eligible to receive academic credit and
• Must provide a letter confirming eligibility for academic credit from your college or university prior to start of internship
• Must commit and perform intern assignments part-time (between 16 - 20 hours per week)
• Must have experience using MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
Desired Characteristics
• Ability to work independently, quick learner, organized, focused and punctual
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of present and past television programming and non-linear digital programs
• Major in: Communications, Film/TV Studies or Business highly desired
