This is a Part Time Unpaid Internship
The Business Development department is responsible for securing new, non-mainstream revenue streams for Crown Media while planning, directing, and executing business development functions. The department develops strategies designed to increase awareness for our networks by developing new platforms to fuel growth. This includes the networks' website, developing a community site, creating webisodes and microsites tied to programming, and gaming initiatives, among other initiatives. The Business Development department works closely internally with Creative Services, Design, IT, Programming, Public Relations, and Marketing for acquisition of assets around all Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel programs.
ESSENTIAL INTERN FUNCTIONS
• Learn how to produce and maintain consumer website with a focus on Daytime and Series programming
• Understand new media strategy as it applies to consumer web initiatives and maintaining company website
• Shadow Senior Producer, Associate Producer, and Senior Vice President
• Learn how to update and maintain photo, video, and printed content for company website. This includes photo sizing and cropping, updating video captions and metadata, cutting clips from shows with in-house system, writing episode descriptions and/or writing quizzes and polls, and other content to support series and movies.
• Learn how to perform quality assurance and testing on web pages
• Learn the capabilities and limitations of web technologies and development
• Research internet trends, usability concepts, and best web practices
• Other learning opportunities as presented by the Business Development team
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Crown Media interns are unpaid. Although internships are unpaid (school credit only), we do provide a general $500 stipend upon completion of internship. Interested students MUST meet the following criteria:
Basic Qualifications
• Must be 18 years or older
• In pursuit of a degree (Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's) from an accredited college or university
• Must be eligible to receive academic credit and
• Must provide a letter confirming eligibility for academic credit from your college or university prior to start of internship
• Must commit and perform intern assignments part-time (between 16 - 20 hours per week)
• Must have experience using both PC and Mac, but Mac is preferred
• Must have experience using MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
Desired Characteristics
• Demonstrate attention to detail, consistence, and accuracy
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Interest in digital and social media such as twitter, facebook, pinterest, etc.
• Blogging is a plus, but not required
• Experience with Photoshop
• Experience in content management systems and html is preferred, but not required
• Major in: Communications, Film/TV Studies or Business highly desired, but not required
