The Stage Supervisor will work closely with Stage Management and the Scenic Department to create and maintain both the onstage and backstage scenic movements. They will be the lead of the run crew of each production, organizing and choreographing all moving scenery and fly rail movements. Additionally, they will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing the set and technical equipment of each production. The Stage Supervisor will oversee the use and maintenance of all rigging systems. They will also provide necessary training to seasonal staff and maintain a safe and healthy work environment. The ideal individual will have a strong drive to provide high-quality work, exercise good judgment in various situations, possess strong written and verbal communication skills, and work effectively as part of the team.

Some weekend and evening hours are required, including attendance at performances, special events, and/or meetings that may happen outside normal scheduled hours.

Skills:
• Proficiency in both hand and power tools

Duties:
• Supervise and train Stagehands on safe and appropriate operation of all scenic moves during rehearsals and performances.
• Supervise and train Stagehands in proper rigging, carpentry, and stage operation techniques.
• Foster and lead crews to work in a safe, respectful, and collaborative environment.
• Complete all assigned scenic moves in a safe, accurate, and timely manner during rehearsals and performances.
• Attend and participate in all rehearsals, notes, crew calls, and performances as assigned.
• Assist in coordinating the shifting and storing of all scenic and properties elements.
• With Stagehands, maintain the physical quality and safe operation of all scenic elements for each production.
• Complete daily/weekly inspections of all rigging and motorized scenic elements.
• Maintain a stock and inventory of hardware, tools, cleaning supplies, and rigging supplies for the theatre space.
• Run all backstage crew besides wardrobe crew.
• Choreograph scenic shifts.
• Assist SMPA in props tracking and setup.
• Create and maintain backstage track paperwork.
• Perform pre and post-show checks of the scenery and props, and perform necessary repairs.
• Communicate with Stage Management about the needs of the backstage crew.
• Assist in load-ins, lighting hangs/focus, and strikes.
• Oversee operations of the stage rigging system.
• Maintain stage areas and stage rigging systems.
• Assist in the build and construction of scenery when available.
• Read all reports and act on any notes.
• Provide assistance in other departments as needed.
• Adhere to all safety protocols at all times.
• Provide support for special events.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
• 5 years of experience in the field
• Work experience with professional theatre and fly systems
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of equipment
• Ability to climb ladders, mobile lifts, catwalks, and work at heights
• Ability to work overhead with heavy equipment
• Ability to work in tight, enclosed spaces including ones in the air
• Ability to work in dark spaces
• Ability to stand for long periods depending on the assignment
• Ability to work with proper personal protective equipment
• Ability to safely operate shop equipment and tools

Gulfshore Playhouse will be opening the Baker Theatre and Education Center, a state-of-the-art facility, featuring a 350-seat mainstage with a Broadway-sized stage, a 125-seat flexible space, rehearsal studios, classrooms, and rental space in October of 2024. In 2022, Gulfshore Playhouse became nationally recognized as the 77th member of the League of Resident Theatres (LORT).
