Gulfshore Playhouse, a mission-driven, professional theatre company located in Naples, Florida, is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented and organized individual to serve as Art Director/Senior Graphic Designer, providing design lead to the marketing team.
Gulfshore Playhouse offers a diverse season of straight plays and musicals ranging from venerated classics and Broadway hits to contemporary works and world premieres. The Playhouse is passionately committed to producing high-quality, professional theatre which exceeds the expectations of the cultured residents and visitors of Naples, FL, many of whom are regular theatre patrons in New York, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.
Gulfshore Playhouse recently opened the Baker Theatre and Education Center, a state-of-the-art facility, featuring a 368-seat Broadway-sized mainstage, a 125-seat flexible space, rehearsal studios, classrooms, and rental space. In 2022, Gulfshore Playhouse became nationally recognized as the 77th member of the League of Resident Theatres (LORT). This is an extraordinarily exciting time for the Playhouse, which is experiencing unprecedented growth, and the Art Director/Senior Graphic Designer will have the opportunity to continue to grow the brand.

Start Date: ASAP
Reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer, the Art Director/Senior Graphic Designer will lead the visual storytelling of our theatre's brand and oversee the in-house graphic designer. This role is responsible for developing compelling designs that inspire audiences, elevate our productions, and support our mission. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled designer with a deep passion for the performing arts, capable of balancing big-picture creative direction with hands-on execution.
The ideal individual will have a strong drive to provide high-quality work, the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills, and leadership capabilities. The Playhouse values hard work, kindness, generosity, passion, and grace-under-pressure. The Art Director/Senior Graphic Artist may be expected to work extended hours when necessary to meet goals. Some weekend and evening hours are required including attendance at Opening Nights, special events, and/or meetings that may happen outside normal hours.
Key Responsibilities
Creative Direction & Design Execution
Develop and maintain the theatre's visual identity across all marketing materials, ensuring consistency and brand integrity.
Design eye-catching digital and print assets, including show posters, playbills, social media graphics, email campaigns, website visuals, and fundraising materials.
Oversee production of marketing collateral, including managing relationships with printers and vendors.
Collaborate with photographers and videographers to ensure high-quality promotional imagery.
Marketing & Branding
Conceptualize and execute creative campaigns for theatre productions, special events, and fundraising initiatives.
Work closely with the marketing team to develop engaging content for social media, email marketing, and digital advertising.
Ensure brand alignment across all external communications, from website design to donor materials.
Collaboration & Project Management
Work closely with the Producing Artistic Director, Artistic, and Marketing team to translate artistic vision into compelling visual narratives.
Manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently while maintaining a high level of creativity and attention to detail.
Lead and mentor Graphic Designer as needed.
Qualifications
5+ years of professional design experience, preferably in the performing arts, non-profit, or entertainment industry.
Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in branding, typography, layout, and digital/print design.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other relevant design tools.
Experience in web design (WordPress) and motion graphics (After Effects) is a plus.
Strong understanding of social media trends and how to design for engagement across platforms.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a passion for theatre and the arts.
