Hachette Speakers Bureau combines the efforts and energies of Hachette Book Group (a Big Five publisher) and Greater Talent Network (a leader in the lecture industry). HSB brings authors from a range of fields-business, leadership, current affairs, history, parenting, medicine, inspiration, psychology, humor, sports, literature, and many more-into direct contact with audiences in search of information, illumination, and entertainment. We are currently expanding our publishing division and are looking to hire a sales agent who can maximize an already productive sales team. We are looking for an individual who can take their drive to succeed and apply it to a lucrative business career. Major Responsibilities
• Act as agent to Hachette Speakers Bureau authors, helping them maintain or build a successful career in the lecture industry
• Source new inside sales opportunities through inbound lead follow-up or outbound cold calls and emails
• Close sales and achieve quarterly quotas
• Research accounts, identify key players & generate interest in Hachette authors
• Act as liaison between authors and groups - communicate accurate and comprehensive travel details and event information to clients, speakers, and internal staff
• Create and revise contracts for speakers and groups
• Coordinate event logistics -- work with travel department to organize travel plans and create detailed event schedules for our authors
• Monitor records of incoming funds and outstanding billing
• Work with bookstores and/or event organizers to ensure books are present at all events
• Liaison with various publicity and editorial managers at Hachette & its imprints to discuss upcoming books and identifying new authors for the lecture circuit
Required Experience
• 3+ years of proven inside sales experience
• Track record of over-achieving sales quotas
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and constantly re-prioritize
• Experience and working knowledge of the meeting industry and/or publishing industry a plus
Required Skills / Knowledge
• Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal skills required to effectively communicate with a wide range of customers and speakers via phone and email
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook)
• Experience in Filemaker a plus
• Ability to find creative solutions and be resourceful
• Able to work independently
• Passionate reader across all genres including current events, business and pop culture
Educational Background Required: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
