Accountant (Project Costing & General Ledger)
Good Deed Entertainment is an established, dynamic, film company with offices in Ashland, Ohio. We are looking for an exceptional individual who can handle our studio accounting function as well as support our continued growth and success.
Our Accountant will be part of the finance team and will be responsible for company accounting including working with producers and management to ensure proper tracking and reporting of project costs, revenue, producer participation statements, project margins, project budget variances as well as other other ancillary reporting.
This position will have dual reporting to the CFO and EVP, Distribution & Operations. This role will also support the overall accounting team. Duties include but not limited to:
• Project-cost monitoring and reporting
• Payroll processing and 1099 Vendor payments
• Generate Accounts Receivable and track Contracts Receivable from Sales reports. Assist with collections.
• Research and resolve any accounting and/or documentation problems and discrepancies
• Generate Quaterly Producer Reports
• Responsible for supporting day-to-day financial operations such as billing and expense processing (vendor invoices, check requests, credit cards, etc.)
• Assist in month-end activities (bank reconciliations, prepare JEs and AJEs revenue and expense recognition, accrual management, deferrals, CAPEX, etc.)
• Effective communication with Executives and outside Producers
• Prepare additional reporting and analysis as required by senior management
Desired Skills and Experience
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
• Knowledge of GAAP in the area of Feature Film Revenue/Expense and Capital Recognition
• Minimum of 3 years progressive accounting and G/L experience.
• Experience working within a Film/Creative/Media industry preferred
• Experience in Film Sales & Distribution Accounting a big plus
• Experience with project costing and variance reporting required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Advanced knowledge of Excel
• Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
• Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment
• Strong partnership and collaborative style with excellent written skills
• Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects as well as strong follow through skills
