Post Production Media Systems Engineer Opportunity
We have a vacancy for an experienced Systems Engineer. The Media Systems Engineer reports directly to the Director of Engineering. We are a New York Post Production facility located in the heart of the Meat Packing District. You will be part of a fast paced, deadline-driven, and team-based environment. You will work in a collaborative environment, with other team members who share a love for film making and post-production.
Our goal is to provide the very best in creative and technical expertise for our clients, in order to help them realize their creative vision.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge in Digital Post-production, SAN Maintenance, DI workflow, Color Science, Deliverables and Audio Post-production. This specialist will work closely with the entire team (colorists, finishing artists, producers, mixers, engineering, etc.) to keep the facility operational and up to date, to assist in customizing, and adjusting workflows and work within strict deadlines.
Responsibilities: The Media Systems Engineer will be the point person for our (15+) Avid offline remote clients. She or he will supervise the Junior Media Systems Engineer with the building, testing and support of Avid Media Composer systems and will provide Tier 2 support to our offline remote clients.
Other responsibilities:
The Media Systems Engineer will also provide day to day support for our Picture Dept. staff consisting of DaVinci Resolve Colorists, Autodesk Flame Artists, Data I/O Operators, and Dailies Colorists and Operators. He or she will also oversee our Clearview Flex client sessions, perform industry standard monitor and projector calibrations, participate in the day to day troubleshooting of hardware and software as issues arise, and evaluate and maintain the security best practices for the company.
This position will require commuting into the office at least 3 days a week.
Minimum requirements:
Must have an extensive knowledge of and the ability to troubleshoot Avid Media Composer software, hardware (Mac and PC), and Avid Nexis shared storage. Must be knowledgeable with DaVinci Resolve color grading software and hardware (Mac and Linux) and shared databases. Must be comfortable with Colorfront ExD Dailies software and hardware (Mac and PC). Experience with building Avid Media Composer, DaVinci Resolve, Autodesk Flame, and Colorfront ExD systems is a +, as is general to advanced networking / IT skills (working knowledge of switches, Office365 mail, and office phone systems). SAN storage (Quantum StorNext), NAS storage and server experience is also a plus.
Other requirements:
4-year degree preferred, and or equivalent experience. Must be able to lift and install workstations into machine room racks (the ability to lift 30+ lbs).
