Description
Role Summary
The (GSC) role is to oversee and review all legal technology issues across the organization governance. This includes providing objective assessments of the company’s compliance to legislation governing the organization’s information technology systems and industry-specific regulations. The GSC IT Director will also direct the development and implementation of policies and procedures and IT service management systems to ensure that the organization’s practices remain observant to all pertinent local, state/province/county, and federal laws.
Key Responsibilities
• Participate as a member of the senior management team in governance processes of the organization’s strategies for legal compliance.
• Spearhead a compliance program to achieve legal obligations and business goals by prioritizing initiatives and assessing the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future technologies.
• Audit existing compliance practices across the organization; isolate potential risks or liabilities and develop mitigation plans.
• Develop and communicate policies, procedures, and plans to executive team, staff, partners, customers, and stakeholders regarding technology- and industry-specific laws.
• Collaborate with the organization’s IT leaders, security, Infrastructure, applications, service management, human resources department, and legal counsel to ensure full legal compliance of company policies, procedures, forms, notices, and materials.
• Work closely with IT department to develop and coordinate a compliance schedule tailored to the applicable regulations.
• Devise and implement compliance monitoring of all business partners, associates, vendors, and service providers to ensure that legal obligations are met.
• Develop and implement a system for tracking, documenting, and investigating all complaints (internal or external) regarding the company’s compliance policies and/or practices.
• Respond to alleged violations of regulations and company in a manner appropriate to legal requirements.
• Prepare and deliver – or administrate deliverance of – compliance training and awareness to all staff members, contractors, interns, and consultants.
• Maintain a strong awareness of legislative changes or amendments to ensure ongoing and future compliance; conduct yearly audits.
• Advise, counsel, and educate executive and management teams on the relative importance and financial impact of associated laws; recommend changes where necessary.
• Advocate company’s compliance policies via regular written and in-person communications with company executives, department heads, and staff.
• Work closely with IT department on corporate technology development to fully secure information and information-processing/gathering systems.
• Ensure that information security measures and equipment adhere to all applicable laws and regulations.
• Where required, negotiate with department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company.
Qualifications/Experience
• 7 years direct work experience in an IT project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution.
• 7 years direct experience in software development and supervision.
• Strong familiarity with project management software, such as MS Project, Agile Jira, etc.
• Strong familiarity with financial software or systems, such as Oracle EBS.
• Demonstrated experience in personnel management.
• 10 years’ experience working in the IT industry and Public companies.
• 7 years’ experience managing compliance assessments or managing IT functions within a corporate setting.
• Proven experience developing and submitting audit and compliance reports to governing bodies, legal entities, and/or external authorities.
• Experience in planning, organizing, and developing information technology policies, procedures, and practices.
• Direct experience and knowledge of local and federal information technology laws, including SOX, MPAA, PCI.
• Strong communication skills (both written and oral), particularly with government/legal agencies.
• Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving compliance issues.
• Excellent knowledge of technology environments, including information security, encryption methods, infrastructure, business applications, IT service management systems, and privacy-based solutions.
• Substantial exposure to data processing, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications, and outsourced systems, including Oracle EBS, Hyperion, Cloud Services, enterprise level hardware and storage.
• Understanding of computer systems and integration capabilities.
• Superior understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
