Global Compensation and Benefit Administrator | Global Eagle Entertainment Inc.
The benefits administrator position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of group global benefits programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, worker’s compensation, life insurance, flexible spending plan, 401(k) plan and retirement plan). The benefits administrator also provides excellent customer service and makes recommendations to improve existing benefits plans, investigates new benefits programs, and performs benefits administration as well as provides analytical and technical support in the delivery of the benefits programs
Key responsibilities
Benefit Administration:
Research and Development
• Assists with the research of employee benefits plans and vendors to identify those that present the best value.
• Assists in the management of the benefits plan renewal process.
• Collects experience data from available resources.
• Examines possible plan design or benefit cost changes.
Administration: Design, Direct, Comply
• Serves as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators.
• Coordinates transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration.
• Works effectively to make sure the plans run smoothly.
• Investigates discrepancies and provides information in non-routine situations.
• Evaluates and revises internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
• Documents and maintains administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes.
• Ensures compliance with applicable government regulations.
• Ensures timeliness and accuracy of required filings.
Administration: Processing, Functional
• Coordinates daily benefits processing.
• Handles enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, QDROs, QMCSOs, distributions, loans, hardships and compliance testing for all global locations.
• Provides information for the updating of employee payroll records.
• Gathers employee data and oversees the processing of monthly billings and the preparation of vouchers for payment of administrative fees for all group plans.
• Prepares regular benefits reports
• Provides the technical support and works with end users to provide system support and troubleshoot system problems.
Evaluation, Measurement, Audit
• Assists with the analysis of the current benefits, evaluating the use, services, coverage, effectiveness, cost, plan experience and competitive trends in benefits programs and identifies the company’s stance.
• Assists with plan audits.
• Prepares, collects, and organizes data for actuarial assessments.
• Surveys industry trends. Completes benefits surveys and reviews information obtained from the results.
• Analyzes complex benefits information. Forecasts trends and assists with future benefits designs.
• Develops specific recommendations for review by management.
• Monitors administrative costs of benefits programs and recommends cost containment strategies, including alternative methods for administration and funding.
• Prepares budgetary recommendations and assists in the monitoring, verifying and reconciling of budgeted funds.
Customer Service, Communication, Training
• Provides customer service support to internal customers.
• Develops and maintains communication tools to enhance understanding of the company’s benefits package.
• Designs and distributes materials for benefits orientations, open enrollment and summary plan descriptions.
• Provides training and support to global HR team and management.
Equity Plan Management
• Maintains company stock data, develops reports, and answers inquiries regarding stock plans.
• Prepare correspondence to employees regarding grants
• Prepares reports for quarterly Compensation Committee meetings
Compensation Administration:
• Assist with maintaining consistency in grading and banding of roles
• Assist with job analysis projects as needed
• Work with compensation manager/consultants on a variety of projects including program design, analysis, budgeting, implementation of new programs and stock reload.
• Manage projects such as survey participation and analysis, compensation integration for mergers and acquisitions.
• Develop and document procedures to streamline processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and work with HR managers to educate managers.
• Work with HRIS and IT staff to ensure that the HRIS system meets compensation needs and is updated to reflect changes to salary structures, bonus programs, etc.
• Assist HR managers and managers with compensation related issues
Qualifications
Professional track record
• Bachelor’s degree and minimum of five years of related benefits administration experience.
• Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
• Project management skills and experience.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Capability of effective planning and priority setting.
• Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical skill.
• Knowledge of benefits contract language
• Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers’ compensation, Medicare, COBRA, and Social Security and DOL requirements.
