This is a Part Time Unpaid Internship
Gigantic Pictures, an independent film and documentary production company located in Chelsea, is looking for dedicated, fast-learners interested in obtaining first-hand experience in the independent film industry.
As part of Gigantic, you will be working in a close-knit office, directly assisting producer Jason Orans and the rest of the Gigantic staff (FLANNEL PAJAMAS, Sundance 2006; GOODBYE BABY, ShoWest; YEAR OF THE FISH, Sundance 2007; SATELLITE, Tribeca Film Festival 2005). Gigantic Pictures is the production company behind Independent Spirit Award-winning director Ramin Bahrani's feature GOODBYE SOLO and short subject PLASTIC BAG. In the past years, Gigantic's films DARE and NIGHT CATCHES US played in Sundance's dramatic competition, and were released theatrically. Gigantic has recently been involved in narrative features, television, and shorts. We currently have projects in the festival circuit, a documentary in production, and several feature narratives, docs and TV pitches in development--all in all, it is a very busy and very exciting time to join Gigantic!
Tasks include covering phones, preparing mailings, helping to maintain the office and assisting in necessary runs. In addition to working alongside the heads of Gigantic Pictures, interns also support our writers, directors and film crews. We look for strong writing and analytical skills that will be employed while crafting executive summaries, letters and script coverage for our head of development. Dependable self-starters will be given charge of projects that they will have the opportunity to see from start to finish.
This internship is a great introduction to NYC indie film, and presents the rare opportunity to work, from Day 1, in conjunction with an experienced producing team.
Our Fall semester internships run from mid to late August through the end of the year, and is unpaid though we are happy to offer credit.
