Job Title: Video Editor
Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid)

Job Summary:
This role is responsible for editing and producing engaging video content that highlights news, stories, and events related to Africa and the African diaspora within the Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) region.

The ideal candidate has a keen eye for storytelling, a strong sense of pacing and visual flow, and the technical skills to bring raw footage to life for broadcast, social media, and digital platforms. You will work closely with reporters, producers, and camera operators to craft compelling video pieces that reflect our mission and connect with diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities:
• Edit video content for news stories, features, and special projects for TV and digital platforms.
• Organize, log, and manage raw footage from multiple shoots and sources.
• Collaborate with reporters and producers to craft visually engaging stories that meet editorial goals.
• Add graphics, sound design, and transitions to enhance video quality and storytelling.
• Ensure final edits meet technical and brand standards for various platforms.
• Manage file storage, exports, and backups to maintain organized workflows.
• Assist with occasional on-set or field production support as needed.

Qualifications:
• Some experience in video editing for broadcast, digital, or social media.
• Proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar editing software.
• Basic knowledge of motion graphics, color correction, and audio mixing is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, creative problem-solving, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent sense of visual composition, pacing, and storytelling.
• Familiarity with African or diaspora communities and culture is a strong plus.
• Ability to work collaboratively and respond to feedback in a fast-paced environment.
